THE COMMITMENT
10%
Every piece of JLX sold sends 10% of its proceeds to the Eastern Congo Initiative. This holds across the full line and will not change.
01-THE CHOICE
Why the Eastern Congo Initiative
We chose the Eastern Congo Initiative because their work goes to the Congolese women. ECI funds locally led organizations across economic opportunity and access to justice, with communities led by women and youth at the center of what they do.
After sixteen years in the region, their work moves through more than seventy local partner organizations on ground. The money arrives where decisions are made by the people who live there, which is what mattered to me most.
02-ABOUT ECI
The Eastern Congo Initiative in their own words
The Eastern Congo Initiative is a U.S.-based nonprofit founded in 2010 by Ben Affleck and Whitney Williams. They describe themselves as the first advocacy and grantmaking initiative fully dedicated to eastern Congo.
Their mission is to amplify the voice and leadership of the Congolese people, and to advance peace, resilience and economic opportunity across the region. Their work is anchored by Congolese-led organization and cooperatives on the ground.
